Welcome to a new SkyRoster video!

In today’s complex and diversified business sectors, Organisations must support different staff functions on their Organograms. In the Air Traffic Control business, the typical functions to be expected are Air Traffic Control Officers, Supervisors, Flow Management Positions, Technical Watch Staff, OJT's, and OJTI’s, among others.SkyRoster introduces the concepts of requirements, qualifications, and ranks to model these kinds of work-related functions. In today’s video, we’ll learn what requirements are and how to define them.

A requirement is used within the competency management module as part of a qualification and specifies what conditions have to be met for a qualification to be valid.

Examples of requirements can be the Medical Check, English Proficiency, Assessor, or the Bachelor’s Degree.

Creating new requirements is as simple as filling in a name and a validity period. Requirements have their own validity, which can be limited or permanent. If a qualification contains an expired requirement, then the qualification itself becomes invalid.

After saving the requirement, the tool allows us to set some dynamic rules for the requirement’s validity, based on certain properties of the employee. For example, we can tell the system that, if the employee is over 40, the validity shall be extended to 730 days.

Requirements are at the base of competency management in SkyRoster. After we finish defining them, we are ready to move forward with creating the list of qualifications, which it’s exactly what we’re going to do in the next video.

See you soon!
