This post is part of the SkyRoster Training Videos Series.

Welcome to a new SkyRoster video!

In the previous video, you’ve learned how to create the working hours for your Organization. Now it’s time to use these working hours to create a shift pattern. A shift pattern is a sequence of predefined working shifts, which repeats indefinitely. SkyRoster is able to generate working schedules with or without a shift pattern. We will cover this matter in a future video when we’ll learn how to generate different types of rosters.

An admin can create any number of working patterns, which can be used at building the employees’ schedules. Creating a new shift pattern is very simple. We only need to give it a name and the sequence of shifts. As a convention, try to name the shift pattern using the roster codes and the succession of its shifts. It will be easier to manage them when you’ll have multiple working patterns, allowing you to identify the pattern from its name.

Now, let’s add the sequence of shifts that define the pattern. A thing that it’s worth mentioning here is that you can override the “Can do replacement” option and enable the on-call shift. Make sure to input the shifts in the correct order. SkyRoster will pre-validate the pattern and will prevent you from saving an invalid one, for example, a pattern that does not fulfil the minimum rest time between shifts. Alright, let’s save it. And now it will be available in the list of shift patterns.

That’s all for today! Don’t forget to subscribe to our Youtube channel to get a notification when the next training video comes out! See you soon!
